MOBILE VEHICLE AND CARAVAN WEIGHING SERVICE
A Weighing Service that can come to you.
What we will need to be able to weigh you at home! We will need a large flat, level area. Large enough to have car and trailer connected together. Preferably cement or bitumem.
If you do not have a suitable area we can locate something close to your location that is suitable.
For the most accurate results, we prefer to weigh you as if you were packed ready for a trip away. Water tanks filled and motor vehicle packed and full of fuel. It is best to have all passengers that would usually travel in the car with you.
The actual weigh itself may take up to 2 hours to complate, this depends on what adjustments and modifications are required to ensure you are safe and legal. Where possible we want you to drive away right.
DON'T TEMPT FATE! KNOW YOUR WEIGHT!
whY should i get my rig weighed?
To ensure it’s legal and safe to tow.
Motor Vehicles and Caravans/Trailers have weight limits placed on them by the manufacture to ensure they remain safe of our nations roads. These are called compliance limits, they are not to be exceeded. If exceeded they can render your car, trailer or both as overloaded and unroadworthy. It can be easy to accidentally overload your car, trailer or both without knowing it. Common modifications and accessories such as bull bars and winches on vehicles and additional water tanks, gas cylinders or tool boxes on a caravan can eat into the carrying capacity and limit how much you can carry and tow.
We have seen some caravans can even exceed their maximum weight when empty. This is a big problem as there is no easy fix. We have also seen a few caravans with incorrectly marked ID plates from the factory and some with so little payload that necessary items can’t be carried. Ultimately, you need to know the weight of your caravan to know whether your tow vehicle is suitable and if you can carry everything you need. It is the responsibility of the person in control of the vehicle to ensre they comply with these limits and remain roadworthy.
